The gites are situated on the edge of the interesting village of Genis (with all amenities) café/bar, restaurant and the re-knowned butchers. This area of the Dordogne is exceptionally beautiful and unspoilt and the area is called the Périgord Vert because it remains green even through the long hot summers.

The River Auvézère is nearby where you can take leisurely strolls along the riverbank – it is also a popular spot for local fishermen. At the nearby town of Cherveix Cubas you can hire kayaks or canoes and horse riding is also available locally. This region offers much to see, fairytale chateaux, medieval villages, rolling hills and valleys, prehistoric caves, wonderful cuisine and warm, friendly people.

IMG_8011The historic city of Perigueux is only 3/4 an hours drive away. The nearby Chateau at Hautefort is one of the most prestigious chateaux in South West France, and is a listed historic monument. Surrounded by flower terraces, the castle’s ‘garden of Aquitaine’ is one of the finest in France.
